PERSONALITY
Nathaniel has always been a little wayward, with a dry sense of humor. Towards strangers, he often displays a cannot-care-less attitude, which means he more often than not left the mingling and explanations for his behavior to someone closer to him. If not, unless he had a particular interest in someone else or something related to that person, he would not bother forming any relationship of sorts. It would take a very persistent person to get to know him better, then, like an onion, Nathaniel's more charming quirks will reveal themselves.
Once familiar, others will find a childishness unbecoming of his stature and age. One might find themselves often the victim of a mischievous prank. Despite being petty and quick to hold a grudge, that same childishness is as quick and easy to appease with treats and novelty gifts or similar favors. Not all about him is childish however. He enjoys fine dining (to a high standard), classical and antiquated music, world culture and television shows like Hannibal.
Work-wise, while not a fan of protocol, he adheres strictly to checks. Time is of no relation (unless in regards to evidence), as long as the sequence of milestone tasks is upheld. Not a deskbound paperpusher either, Nathaniel often skips into the crime scene to observe evidence personally, even when he is not the Lead Investigator. He dips his fingers into every case, as the Head of Department is allowed to and reviews them all with scrutiny. That alone has earned him a reputation that no detail is missed by him and that none of his subordinates are allowed to err closing a case. Because of that, he sometimes aggravates the investigation team until every clue is properly given an answer, even when the case is solved.
